Germany’s far‑right Alternative für Deutschland, led by Ulrich Siegmund, won a historic victory in the Saxony‑Anhalt state election, more than doubling its share to 43.8 % and securing 39 of 83 seats. The party fell three seats short of a majority, and mainstream parties have ruled out a coalition. Siegmund thanked Elon Musk on X for his support after Musk replied “Well done” to a party co‑founder. France’s Europe minister, Benjamin Haddad, called the result a serious moment for Europe, warning that nationalism will never solve problems.
