UK bans goods from Israeli West Bank settlements: What that really means

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband today announced the United Kingdom will ban all goods produced by illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. He said the move marks a comprehensive reset of UK policy, labeling settlements unlawful and calling Israel’s actions ethnic cleansing. The ban, worth roughly 38 million pounds in 2025, also brings tighter limits on arms exports to Israel. Israel responded by banning 12 British MPs and closing its Jerusalem consulate, while a joint statement by 12 countries urged Israel to halt settlement expansion.
