Earlier this week the United States struck five Iranian oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched two ballistic‑missile attacks on a U.S. warship that were evaded. The U.S. Central Command said it destroyed the vessels and directed crews to abandon ship. In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at U.S. forces at Jordan’s Al Azraq base and claimed damage to two U.S. ships and eight tankers. Jordan’s air defenses intercepted most of the missiles, and no casualties were reported.
